No-knit hats

Minimuetze9

Well, it took me a day more to take the fotos because I absolutely wanted to show you two different versions to present them. For your colours you should consider the surrounding where they shall be put lateron.

Minimuetze2Cut a 1,5cm piece of a gift wrapping roll that will serve as the base for your hat. Woollen threads will be pulled through that ring. In order to get threads of equal length wind them round a bread board or book of the right size of about 15cm. For every hat you’ll need between 60 and 80 threads according to the diameter of your  paper roll.

Minimuetze3Intersect all threads on one side of the board and put together four threads. (If you take thick woll you should take only 3 threads) Put them in halves, pull the loop through the paper ring and then your thread ends through the wool loop. Fasten the knot which will be the border of the mini hat.

Tie loops tightly through the paper ring to cover it completely. Adjust the knots in line afterwards.

Minimuetze5

Arrange the loose ends and tie them with a long thread to get the shape of a hat. Knot your thread twice and cut it off slightly above the knot.

Shorten the loose ends to get a pompon leaving a pair of long threads if you want to suspend them lateron. Hanging from a rutic branch with some wadding snowballs you will have a lovely window decoration.

Minimuetze8

Place them on some wadding snow spots amidst your flower pots to decorate your window sill. If you still don’t long for winter now it’s really not my fault.

Winter

Minimuetze1

Outside winter’s still not in sight. That’s why I tried to create some kind of winter feeling inside the house. I found a lovely video instruction for a sock snowman at handyandhomemade.com. It’s quite easy to make them and just try to mix different materials for the ice-cold companion’s decoration.
The funny woollen hats are mad without any crochet or knitting needle. All you need are wool remainders, the inner roll of gift wrapping or toilet paper, a cutter, scissors and a bread board. I’ll show how the hats are done tomorrow because right now time for foto shooting was too short.

Turn of the year

Silvester2015-2

Scampi appetizer

Scampi1

The original recipe on lecker.de was to be prepared with mangos but unfortunately those available in our food stores were still unripe and too hard. That’s why I simply changed the recipe and took some persimmon instead. Thanks to the scampi it’s a very classy but light appetizer. It’s easy to prepare it and it’s lovely for New Year’s Eve.

Ingredients:
four servings

200graw scampi without head (fresh or frozen)
1 tbsp cooking oil, a dash of salt and sugar
1/2 cucumber
1 big or 2 small persimmon
juice of 1 lime
1 bunch of chive

Preparation:

Heat scampi (unfreeze if necessary) with some oil in a cooking pan and roast scampi 2-3 minutes turning them regularly. Season with salt, cool and chop coarsely.

Scampi2

Peel cucumber, core them and dicce. Peel persimmon, cut off leaves and take off the inner hard parts. Take half a persimmon and cut into small dices. Chop carsely remaining fruit and purée with lime juice. Season with a dash of sugar and salt, add chive rolls.
Divide fruit dice on small party glasses and add cucumber. Baste with some dressing. Then pour in the chopped scampi and the remaining dressing. Serve with fresh baguette.

Best wishes
